Road trips can be a great way to explore new areas. It’s also an excellent opportunity to break into a new vehicle. At Ken Ganley Kia, we offer a convenient location in Medina, Ohio. We’ve got all sorts of road trip ideas for you – it all depends on how far you want to drive.

21 Sorento
Niagara Falls

In approximately four hours, you can visit Niagara Falls, New York. Not only is it one of the natural wonders of the world, but it’s also an incredible town filled with plenty of activities. If you have a passport, you can make it more of a road trip by going over to the Canadian side of the Falls, too.

Maid of the Mist is a must as it will get you the best possible view of the Falls (and get you wet). You can also do Cave of the Winds where you can walk next to and behind the waterfall.

Washington DC

When you want to visit the nation’s capital, you can head to Washington, DC. This drive is going to be about six hours if you drive predominantly through Pennsylvania or closer to seven if you want to dip into the southern states of West Virginia and Virginia.

With a bit of planning when you get to DC, you can take a tour of the Capitol Building and even of the White House. There are plenty of foodie tours. You will also want to plan a drive out to National Harbor in Maryland – there are restaurants, The Capital Wheel, and so much more.

Chicago, Illinois

There’s plenty to see and do in the Windy City of Chicago. The road trip will be about five and a half hours, though you can certainly extend that by stopping at some fun places in Indiana along the way. You’ll want to spend some time along Navy Pier with the rides and shops, get photos at the observation deck of Willis Tower and get a selfie in front of the Bean (Cloud Gate) at Millennium Park.

Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Kentucky is known for its bourbon, and you can choose to take a road trip where you can stop at several different distilleries. It will take you about six hours to get to Danville, KY, which is the southernmost stop along the trail. It will take you a few days to make it to all of the distilleries, especially if you plan on doing a tasting and a tour. The average person can do about three distilleries in a day.

Virginia Beach, Virginia

When you live in Ohio, you’re accustomed to beaches on a lake. A beach on the Atlantic Ocean is a completely different experience. It’s one of the top reasons why you should take a road trip down to Virginia Beach. The drive to the beach itself will be about nine hours. Of course, you can add to the fun by stopping to explore the history of Richmond and Williamsburg on the way.

Once you get to Virginia Beach, there will be plenty of sand and sun to keep you busy. You can do some fishing, charter a boat, and even explore the amusement park on the beach.

Vermont Cheese Trail

The Vermont Cheese Trail is a chance to eat your way through the state, trying out the various creameries along the way. From sharp cheddar to chevre, there’s a bit of everything. The cheese trail spans across the entire state, so it will take you days to try them all. It will take you about nine hours to get to Brattleboro, which is in the southern part of the state. If you want to start at the top and work your way down, plan on closer to a 12-hour drive to get started.

There is plenty of bed and breakfasts andhotels to stop in. Plus, many have restaurants on-site so you don’t have to live only on cheese for the duration of your trip.
